Kindred Connections Malpractice Insurance Requirements

In order to be credentialed and maintain active status with Kindred Connections Therapy Center, all providers are required to carry individual professional liability insurance, commonly referred to as malpractice insurance. Coverage must be active and verified before providers are permitted to see clients or submit claims for services.

Maintaining appropriate malpractice coverage is an essential part of professional practice and helps ensure protection for both the provider and the clients served. Providers are responsible for securing and maintaining their own individual coverage in alignment with the standards outlined below.

Requirements

As part of the credentialing process with Kindred Connections Therapy Center, providers must submit proof of active malpractice insurance by providing a current Certificate of Insurance (COI). This document verifies coverage details and must meet specific criteria to be accepted.

To avoid delays in credentialing, providers should ensure their COI meets the following requirements:

  • The policy must remain active and not be set to expire within 45 days of submission

  • The provider’s name must be clearly listed as the insured individual

  • If the policy is held under a business entity, the provider must also be listed as an owner or covered individual

  • Coverage limits must meet or exceed a minimum of $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate

Certain states and license types may allow for different minimum coverage limits. Providers are responsible for understanding and complying with the requirements specific to their state and professional designation.

Coverage Standards

Malpractice insurance policies must provide adequate protection based on the scope of services being delivered. Coverage should align with industry standards for behavioral health professionals and reflect the level of clinical responsibility held by the provider.

It is the provider’s responsibility to ensure that their policy includes appropriate coverage for all services rendered, including telehealth if applicable. Failure to maintain adequate coverage may result in delays, restrictions, or removal from active service status.

Maintaining Active Coverage

Malpractice insurance policies typically renew on an annual basis. Providers are required to maintain uninterrupted coverage throughout the duration of their work with Kindred Connections Therapy Center.

If a provider’s insurance coverage expires or falls below the required limits, they may not be permitted to continue seeing clients or submitting claims until updated documentation is received and verified.

Providers are encouraged to monitor their policy expiration dates and renew coverage in advance to avoid any disruptions in service.

Updating Your Insurance Information

Providers must submit an updated Certificate of Insurance whenever a policy is renewed or modified. Timely submission helps ensure continued compliance and uninterrupted service delivery.

Kindred Connections Therapy Center may provide reminders in advance of expiration; however, it remains the provider’s responsibility to maintain and submit current documentation.

Once an updated COI is submitted, providers should allow time for review and confirmation. It is recommended to check all communication channels, including email and spam folders, for confirmation notices.

Recommendations

Providers may obtain malpractice insurance through a variety of carriers that offer coverage for behavioral health professionals. It is recommended to select a provider that offers reliable coverage, responsive support, and policies that align with professional standards.

When selecting a policy, providers should consider coverage limits, cost, and whether the policy includes protection for telehealth services and multi-state practice, if applicable.

Update Your Malpractice Insurance

Certificates of Insurance (COIs) typically renew on an annual basis. Providers working with Kindred Connections Therapy Center are required to maintain an active and up-to-date COI that meets all established coverage requirements at all times. If a current COI is not on file, providers will not be permitted to see clients or submit claims for services until updated documentation is received and verified.

Kindred Connections Therapy Center will provide courtesy reminders in advance of your policy expiration to support timely renewal. However, it remains the provider’s responsibility to ensure that updated insurance documentation is submitted prior to the expiration date. Failure to maintain active coverage may result in temporary suspension of services or further action if not resolved.

Once you have renewed your policy, you may submit your updated Certificate of Insurance using the appropriate submission method provided by the practice.

After submitting your updated documentation, please allow up to 72 hours for processing and confirmation. Be sure to check your email, including your spam or junk folder, for confirmation that your updated insurance has been received and approved.
